Things were really bad back then. 9th & 10th gen really saved them.
ReplyDeleteYeah, everybody thought it was over back then but Tsunku was on his "A" game when he selected the 9th & 10th gen... They grew stronger than anybody could have predicted and resurrected the group and the company as well.. 11th gen Sakura was just the icing on the cake to cement our return to top idol status
ReplyDeleteWow even though I loved Momusu back in that day, I always got the feeling they were in danger to be demolished.. When 9th gen was introduced I was still had my doubt but that gen really prove me wrong.. Then 10th gen entered & totally became my fav gen of all time.. then Oda-chan just add the their greatness... I am happy MM able to survive & is slowly climbing up again... I'm very thankful of their effort..
ReplyDeleteIt's funny that some people blame the Platinum Era for MM's decline (though clearly the whole 'family' atmosphere was not very helpful, I would agree with that) but the decline was well underway when Aichan took over the leadership, so it's unfair to blame her/them for something that was already ongoing when they came on their own.
ReplyDeleteI would argue that the seeds of MM's current 'rebirth' were planted during the Platinum Era... Since they held onto their high performance standard, the new gens had a foundation to build upon and a solid 'calling card' when it was time for them to attempt a comeback.
It must have been hard to be a wota back then...

ReplyDeletePE was a "shadow" behind all of this. They keep strong enough to do promotions, single & concert while less-people recognized them. Now slowly the current generations enjoy the result.
